The first 72 hours

A calm, prepared first three days sets the tone for a lifetime. Here's the checklist we give every new family:

• Before pickup: crate, bed, food (we'll tell you the exact brand the puppy eats), bowls, collar and ID tag
• Day 1: keep it quiet — let your puppy explore one room at a time
• Day 2: start the routine — same feeding times, same potty spot, short play sessions
• Day 3: first short visitors, gentle handling practice, and lots of naps
